July 12, 2012How we decide what songs we play at our Prince and MJ night club party:
We do not pre-record or pre-plan our sets. It’s all freestyle dj’ing. We just go one song at a time and figure out the next one to mix in on the fly. We take song requests, but that doesn’t mean we are going to play the song. If it’s the right time, and the vibe is right we’ll do our best to slip it in. We do not play covers, songs that have sampled and artists inspired by tracks. We do strictly Prince and associated artists (The Time, Sheila E., Andre Cymone, Morris Day, Jesse Johnson, Wendy & Lisa) and Michael and the Jackson family (Jackson 5, The Jacksons, Janet, Jermaine, Rebbie, Latoya). We never play a song more than once during a night. There’s just too much great music from both camps to play a song twice. That would take away from being able to play another song that deserves to be played. Hits, remixes, b-sides, album cuts, unreleased tracks – we throw them all in there. We never get bored because it’s never the same party for us, and it’s never the same party for the regulars that attend. More info on our parties here.
