This and That

July 17, 2011

by Dave Paul – Some producers can’t think past 4. Four bars, four measures, four samples… boring. Once an act or artist refer to themselves as a brand, I tune you out. With a statement like that you’re not in it for music, you’re in it strictly for money. Checked my spam box again – apparently I’ve won so much money now that I’m a kazillionaire. Can’t believe that people are trippin on U2 not paying taxes – the rich never pay taxes. A bunch of babies crying about Netflix, if you don’t like it then don’t subscribe or cancel your subscription – didn’t think so. People like to talk sh*t online but in the end that’s all they’re doing. They’ll all be watching a netflix movie tonight – lol. Thanx Google, now I have to deal with circles. The only circles I wanna mess with is records. Planking is so last month, now it’s all about flanking.

Prince and MJ coming to the Boston area

July 10, 2011

7/30 at Showcase Live in Foxboro, MA. More info here.

by Dave Paul – When requesting a song at one of our parties please remember this: You are only allowed to request songs by Prince and associated artists and Michael and the Jackson family. No covers and please do not request anything else, you’ll just be wasting your time and ours. If you just want to hear Purple Rain and Billie Jean all night long, you’re in the wrong place. Don’t worry, we will play the hits, but we will also play remixes, un-released tracks, b-sides and album cuts too. We only play a song once in a night, there are just too many song from Prince and Michael Jackson and we only have so much time to present their vast catalogs throughout the night. We can’t please everyone, in fact, we’re not even going to try. Pleasing everyone is impossible, it wastes the time of the true fans and annoys us. Forgive us for focusing on those we’re trying to delight. We hope that you have fun and our parties and enjoy the experience.

by Dave Paul – The Bay Area has some of the best Prince and Michael Jackson fans, and Saturday night was proof of that. Nothing but love and respect from everyone in the house for both artists. Hell, I was almost tempted to play We Are The World. Nothing says fun like a soul train line as soon as you enter the club. Click here to see photos from the event.

We have two 80s parties this month and if you’re in San Francisco we hope to see you at one or both of them. 7/15 “That 80s Show” at Madrone Art Bar and 7/23 “Barracuda vs That 80s Show” at 111 Minna Gallery.
