Prince Tambourine

September 24, 2010

Just got this in the mail. It’s already on my wall with good company. Today is a good day.

The story behind this particular tambourine from Yolanda : “It was 4/9/94 gold masquerade ball. And me and a friend went together and we were front row center. I wish I could remember the set list but I don’t. While he was performing he grabbed the tambourine from where the drums were and hit the tambo a few times while singing then walked by and as he did he handed it directly to me. That was the only one he gave out that night too. Wish I could remember more details but it seems like sooo long ago and all the times I’ve seen him run together.

The only other time I was closer to him was when he came into the glam slam club vip and only about 5 people were there and my girlfriend and me were kissing and we started dancing and he walked over towards us stood against the wall with a lollipop in his mouth and he was all by himself and watched us as we were dancing seductively together for about 5 min. Next thing we know we looked up and he was gone. Never forget that night.”

Seattle and San Francisco

September 5, 2010

What a way to spend Labor Day Weekend. Two gigs in two cities, two nights in a row. On Friday night it was at Nectar Lounge in Seattle. Gigs on holiday weekends can be tricky and even though it was the night before the 3-day festival Bumbershoot we had a good turnout. As always it was good to see Tate, Jed, Ken, Jonathan, Michelle and Mone Love. Here’s some photos from the Prince and Michael event.

On Saturday night it was our return to Madrone Art Bar in San Francisco. It was great to be back at the place where the “magic” first began. Special thanx to Mike and the entire staff at Madrone. Shouts to the usual PR+MJ suspects; Evol, Meredith, Ron, Ankur and Randy. We appreciate your support. Click here for photos from the night. It was our first time broadcasting live from the event on ustream. You can watch some of the recorded video segments here.

Shout outs to Marcus, Tony, Diane, Camilla, Lakeesha, Nik, Stymie, Jo, William, Diana, Ab, Mone, Kristie and the many others whose names I didn’t catch or elude my memory. Here’s some photos from the event. Cheers and looking forward to October!
