Album Design Contest

Bomb Hip-Hop Records is finishing up production on “Bomb Hip Hop Compilation - Volume 2″. The follow up to our labels first 1994 rap compilation.

The record label is looking for front cover artwork and are having a contest to see who can design the best front cover for the album. The album features tracks by Dirt Nasty, Instant Messengers, Celsius 7, Calri$$ian, Hiright, Foreign Legion, Bash Bros, Shotgun Wedding Quintet, Vera Clique, Rec League All Stars, Grip Grand and Million Bucks (Boac & Conceit).

Submit designs to bombhiphop@gmail.com as jpegs along with with your name, email address, and phone number.

The winning design will need to be available as EPS CMYK artwork, so please bear this in mind when creating your design.

1. You can enter as many designs as you like.

2. Art file should be 5″ by 5″. The live area is 4.5 by 4.5.

3. The winner will receive ten (10) copies of the CD, credit for the art on the cd, and $100 us dollars.

4. Entries must be received by July 20th, 2008

By entering the competition, you agree to give Bomb Hip-Hop Records exclusive rights to use your design on the album.

what’s up with Amazon and Target?

I wanna know what is up with the Amazon and Target websites pricing our new album by Heavy Petting Crew “Songs Our Pets Taught Us” at $15.99?! The suggested retail on that cd is $13.99. They get them wholesale from our distributor for $9.40 (at least Amazon does, don’t know if Target gets then direct from out dist.) so that’s a markup of $6.59 per cd. That’s more profit than the label, artist and distributor collectively see per unit (after manufacturing, marketing and promotion). If they were to sell any cd’s… that is. They’re basically pricing the cd out of the market. How many will they actually sell at that price, not many. No wonder the music industry is falling apart. You can get an autographed copy of the cd from Bomb Hip-Hop for $12 and that includes shipping & handling in the US. Holla!

AC/DC will sell its new album only through Wal-Mart Stores… what the hell is happening!!!
