The Ballad of D.P.

January 24, 2010 by bombhiphop

Sign of the Times is one of our favorite Prince albums. The fourth track on the album “The Ballad of Dorothy Parker” is a classic. Any Prince diehard fan can recite the lyrics. The song has always been a difficult one to slip in at gigs due to the slow tempo and we are always forced to play it very early in the night. We are very fortunate that DJ Design (Foreign Legion/Look) produced a special enhanced remix just for The Prince vs Michael Experience. At about 115 bpm this remix is perfect for dance floors everywhere. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do.

Vinyl Sales

January 11, 2010 by bombhiphop

Vinyl sales were up 89% in 2008 compared to the previous year and up 33% in 2009 for 2.5 million vinyl units in 2009 (music sales were 1.5 billion total for 2009). What everyone fails to mention is majors slowed down on pressing vinyl for a few years and now they are doing it again. So albums like the new AC/DC and Guns N Roses are pressed and pushed at retail. Not to mention all the remastered and reissued vinyl that’s happening. But for indie rap music (and probably major rap artists too) I bet it hasn’t changed much percentage wise. Sorry rappers.
